'We are People of Creativity' exhibition, June 2014

Over summer 2014, when based in Liverpool, we took on several travellers via workaway and began preparations for our first ever event as an organisation.

We were known as ‘Eden Art’ back then.

The big idea was to host a free and interactive creative event in a local area that lacked creative opportunity. Having researched potential areas, we found Edge Hill to be the perfect location.

We wanted to make a statement, that art is for everyone and creativity is universal. We wanted to make it clear that anyone and everyone could exhibit their work with us.

The project began with designing 20 simple posters stating 20 simple phrases:

'I am not just a mother,

I am a person of creativity'

'I am not just a father…'

'I am not just a student…'

'I am not just a child…'

'I am not just a shopworker...' and so on

During the weeks of planning, the team spent most of their time promoting the event throughout Liverpool and working on their own creative works to display.

The call for locals to exhibit with us went down amazingly and the diversity of individuals that displayed with us was incredible.

From Record Producer: DaiDream exhibiting his aluminium models to Srgt Major Hobbs displaying his charcoal on cotton masterpiece, each piece was unique.

The exhibition also gave us the opportunity to take our side project, 'Hope in Zion' into the public domain, and we held an interactive room with therapeutic 'stations', allowing individuals to take part in mindful activities and art therapy techniques.

After many sleepless nights and a lot of doubt, our first event went amazingly well. Our aim was to bring hope and postivity to an area that needed it. We found all this was there, it just needed an opportunity to display it. We hope, we provided that opportunity, even if in a very small way.
